Your leadership is your legacy, it requires you to walk in purpose, on purpose and with purpose.

Authentic leadership requires COURAGE because you must be able to lead yourself to guide others.

This courage allows you to rebel against everything that requires you to fit a mold and against every structure that conditions you to be someone you were never meant to be.

I’m the eldest daughter of hardworking peruvian immigrants, a first-gen Latina, and immigrant.

I was programmed to be a “good girl”, following norms of marianismo. I was taught to keep quiet, work hard, be humble, and respect my elders no matter what. There was an emphasis on living "por el qué dirán” (based on what people will say). After immigrating to the United States as a young teenager, I experienced what thousands of immigrant and first generation children do; I became a translator, a project manager, and so much more at such young age.

I carried so much guilt after experiencing the biggest “failure” of my life, which led me to search for ways to feel “good enough” for nearly a decade…..I became a chronic people pleaser, perfectionist, and hyper-independent who hated her body and suffered from panic attacks. I had poor emotional management and was attracted to toxic relationships.

I assimilated and wore “masks” to fit in, to be “safe”, shedding my accent and hiding my story to not disturb the peace. I white-washed my leadership to sound and appear “more professional”.

But keeping the peace outside only waged a war within, and this is when revolution began. It is through unlearning and relearning that I reclaimed my essence and power. It was only possible after having courage to drop the weight of familial, cultural, gender and other societal norms.

Though I always knew I wanted to help others, I just didn’t know how. As I was looking for the right role, place, and purpose in life, I navigated different industries in my professional journey, including healthcare, higher education, nonprofit, and the male-dominated military. I have seen first-hand the lack of representation, especially for us , women of color, and have also experienced the consequences of lack of supportive spaces aka toxic environments. You see, hurt people hurt people, which makes them unqualified to lead.

It is through unlearning and relearning that I discovered my purpose and legacy:

Creating and empowering others in the creation of inclusive and psychological safe spaces for our next generationS.

Spaces where WE ALL feel welcomed and valued. It’s us adults who must create them; it is us adults who must model it for the younger generations. It is through our beliefs and actions that we create spaces where we can show up as we are so they can show up as they are.

Now, Latinas and WOC trust me to guide them through their journey as they become confident and influential leaders in life and leadership. Whether you are navigating obstacles in your life, career or business, know that I’m here to support you and empower you every step of the way.
