I know what it costs to become the woman everyone can count on.
I’m Miryam Valdrom, a Peruvian immigrant, U.S. Navy veteran, leadership strategist, speaker and coach.
My work is for ambitious women who have learned how to achieve, lead, provide and figure things out, and are ready to build success that gives them more options instead of more obligations.
The woman behind the work
I learned to lead long before anyone called me a leader.
I was born and raised in Peru and immigrated to the United States at 15.
As the eldest daughter navigating two cultures, I became the translator, the fixer and the person who figured things out. Responsibility taught me how to adapt, advocate, lead and keep moving when things were hard.
Those skills took me far.
Through eight years in the U.S. Navy and a career spanning healthcare, higher education, nonprofits, economic development, entrepreneurship and leadership development, I became very good at being the person people could count on.
Eventually, I had to ask a different question:
What happens when the way you learned to succeed starts limiting the life you're trying to build?
That question changed my work. And my life.
What guides my work
What I believe shapes how I lead, coach and live.
I don't believe ambition is the problem. I want women to want more, build more and have more choices in how they live their lives.
But how we get there matters.
These are some of the beliefs that shape my work.
Nobody carries everything. Everybody carries something.
I don't believe leadership is about proving how much you can hold alone. The strongest communities, relationships and organizations are built when people contribute, receive support and carry something together.
There is always another option.
I don't accept “this is just how it's done” very easily. Creativity lets us question the rules we've inherited, imagine something different and build options that didn't exist before.
Joy belongs in an ambitious life.
I don't believe success should require sacrificing everything that makes life worth living. I want the money, impact and big ideas. I also want the relationships, health, laughter, dancing, travel and time to enjoy what I've built.
I don't believe ambition is the problem.
I don't want women to want less, shrink their goals or abandon the success they've worked hard to build.
I want us to have more options.
More money. More time. More support. Stronger relationships. Greater influence. The ability to say yes because we want to, and no because we can.
But you can't build more options when your entire way of operating still depends on being needed.
That's why my work goes deeper than strategy.
My approach
Knowing what to do isn't always enough to make you do it.
You can know you need to ask for more money and still soften the ask.
Know you need support and still do it yourself.
Know you need to speak up and still replay what you should have said on the drive home.
Know the next business move and spend six months preparing instead of making it.
Those moments aren't solved with another checklist.
My work brings together leadership, emotional processing, communication, nervous system and somatic work, hypnosis and nonconscious rewiring, alongside practical strategy and systems.

A few things you should probably know about me...
I'm Peruvian before I'm Latina.
Give me salsa, a full house, and enough Peruvian food to feed twice as many people as I invited. Dancing is my favorite regulation tool, hosting is one of my love languages, and my Peruvian roots shape how I gather, celebrate, love, and move through the world.
I did eight years in the Navy. And yes, there are stories.
Some shaped the way I lead. Some shaped the way I refuse to lead. And some are better told over a drink.
I'm an eldest daughter. If you know, you know.
I learned very early how to figure things out, take care of people, and be the one others could count on. A lot of my work today exists because I had to learn there was another way to live.
I married across cultures.
I'm Peruvian. My husband is Chinese. Our life brings two families, histories, and cultures together, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I'm endlessly curious about why people do what they do.
Give me a conversation about behavior, culture, money, relationships, ambition, or why we keep doing things we know aren't working, and I'm in.
I believe joy belongs in an ambitious life.
I want the money. The impact. The big ideas. And I also want the trip, the long dinner, the people I love, and enough room in my life to actually enjoy what I've built.
I want women to have more options than obligations.
Because money creates options.
Using your voice creates options.
Being supported creates options.
Knowing you can trust yourself creates options.
And the more options you have, the more of your life you get to choose.
